06. What will be my possible expenses during my program?

You are required to pay for accommodation, food, insurance, travel and living expenses, including text books and study materials.

07. How do I handle my money matters when at London?

Carrying a traveler's check is advisable. You can also transact through ATM cards. However, the maximum withdrawal limit in a single day is about 300$. Visa and MasterCard are also accepted at maximum places.

08. Can I open a bank account in London?

In order to open a UK bank account, you will need your passport, a letter from the institution confirming that you are a student and a document confirming your address in the UK (for example a contract for accommodation). It is also helpful to bring information about your bank account(s) and evidence of your address in your home country.

09. What will be cost of living? / How will I find the accommodation?

International students are eligible for University accommodation providing they apply before the deadlines set by the Admissions Office. Married couples are requested to contact the Accommodation Office as early as possible as accommodation for couples is limited.

10. Do I need a visa?

Yes, you will need a visa to study in London. As the regulations change frequently for different countries, it is advisable to check with the British embassy in your own country to ensure you meet the relevant requirements. For any more information/help you can get in touch with our office.

11. What all would I need to get a visa?

You will require a letter of approval from the institution you are going to study in. Contact the embassy in your city to find out further details on obtaining the visa.

12. What do I need to apply for a Visa?

You need 40 points to be able to apply for a student visa and must provide the proof needed with your application form.

Points: 30

What you gets points for: Doing a course (at an acceptable level) with an approved education provider (also known as sponsorship)

Proof and documents needed: Visa letter from your approved education provider, and the documents used to get the visa letter


Points: 10

What you gets points for: Having enough money to cover your course fees and monthly living costs (also known as maintenance)

Proof and documents needed: Bank statement or letter confirming that you have enough money available to cover your course fees and monthly living costs for up to one year, at the time you submit your application


13. Tell me about working in the UK after graduation?

The rules for working in the UK changed in July 2008 and all students who wish to remain in the UK must apply via the UK Border Agency. To find out if you are eligible to work in the UK after your studies, visit the UK Border Agency website.

14. How do I find out if I am eligible to work in the UK while studying?

Check your passport stamp or visa sticker which has the details about whether you can work during your studies. A student immigration permission allows you to work up to 20 hours a week during term-time and full-time during your holidays.

15. What is the preparation required on my end for getting enrolled in the program?

Fill in your application form and gather all the documents related to traveling abroad viz. Passport, visa clearance etc. It is also of importance to thoroughly study the country before leaving.

16. What happens in counseling?

Counseling will help you to resolve any of your issues pertaining to admission in the UK. It will help you get answers to all your queries and aid in getting a clear perspective for your future.

17. Do I need to know English as a language?

If English is not your first language, you will be asked to demonstrate competence in English.

18. Do I need to carry my laptop?

All students are provided with a wireless laptop to access internet from anywhere, anytime.
